I had no idea there were so many sub-genres.

I just know I like what I’ve seen so far.

Working with Mairi, of Trapped in Time Designs, has led me to the doorstep of Airship Isabella Productions at 521 Lyons Street, NOLA. Mairi scouted their gorgeous little shop as the location for the editorial shoot for her New Orleans RAWAwards designs.

Airship Isabella is a team of steampunk enthusiasts that creates everything from steampunk “backpacks”, sculpted from gourds, to delicate wire wrapped rings, to THE MOST AMAZING custom-made, leather crafted costumery. Their storefront is quaint, but jam packed with wearable treasures. The workshop is a hand crafter’s dream. I was a kid in a candy store.

Okay, back to the shoot. Our models of the day were Amber Carollo and Nola Chick, a well known pin-up model ’round these parts. The story is that they are sisters surviving in a post-apocalyptic world. Amber is the rough and tumble sister who fights to get what she wants. Nola Chick uses a more seductive approach, making use of her feminine wiles to get what she needs. Somehow, Mairi and I came up with the same exact story, independently of each other. We do that…a lot. It’s getting weird.

We did the shoot in the storefront, which proved to be the perfect backdrop. The guys there pulled out anything and everything Mairi and I thought to ask of, including large trunks and weapons! (photos below)
