This beautiful woman is local songstress, Erika Flowers.
She sings all over New Orleans, as well as teaches music to grade school students. She’s also adding acting and modeling to her repertoire.
We were supposed to do a beauty/fashion shoot a week before this shoot, but Tropical Storm Cindy rained us out and we had to reschedule. In the meantime, I had Erika over for a test shoot.
Erika performs with a band, but also does solo gigs, where she literally builds the song on the spot. She uses a machine called a “Looper”. It essentially allows her to record a track and play it on repeat. Then she sings over it, and records that, and plays it back. I am so amazed when watching people do that. The first time I saw someone do that was at Voodoo Fest, before Katrina. The second time was when I discovered cellist, Zoe Keating. Now, Erika Flowers.
We did eventually do the beauty/fashion shoot. I’ve added a few of the images to my gallery.
